Flaveur Breads - Our Story

At Flaveur Breads we are passionate about healthy, tasty bread. We started baking on a farm in Te Puke in 2009. Demand for our delicious bread soon required the set-up of a bakery in Mt Maunganui. Now, we are among New Zealand’s favourite slow-fermented, artisan sourdough bakeries. We are in the process of developing some exciting new breads and are now offering traditional soft German Bretzels to kick off our new range.

Based in Mt Maunganui, we use the finest organic and non-organic ingredients to produce a complete range of delicious breads, including gluten free bread, sourdough, multigrain, raisin, rye and spelt, as well as other traditional breads. Our bread is easy to digest, contains probiotics, is low in sugar, and high in minerals and fibre.

We have a Bakery Café where you can watch the breads being made, meet the bakers and find the bread that best suits your needs. We now serve Allpress Coffee - perhaps you’d like a tart or croissant to go with your coffee, take it to a nearby beach and relax.

In Tauranga, you can now stop at our 2nd Ave Cafe for healthy lunch options, great coffee and a loaf to take home.

Customers can also order online for fresh bread delivery anywhere in the North Island.

The team at Flaveur have been long-standing participants at the local Farmers’ Market and occasional events.

About Real Bread

All our breads are hand-crafted, baked daily. Our 'slow-rise' breads contain no chemicals, additives or artificial flavours. Our organic sourdough leaven has matured over 12 years and is refreshed daily. All our doughs are fermented between 8 and 24 hours - slowly and naturally, using traditional methods and our special recipes. This slow-rise fermentation process harnesses the nutrition within wholegrains, cereals, seeds and olive oil to bring you a healthy loaf.

Our leaven gradually transforms our dough and ensures a wholesome, nutritious and delicious food experience. Flaveur bread lowers the glycemic index and raises levels of folate, making the gluten digestible and the nutrients more available. Many customers find the breads easy to digest and in tune with their metabolic needs. Sourdough has great keeping qualities and freezing is also an excellent option.


Most of our breads have our organic leaven as their basis and we use organic ingredients wherever we can. We do not use exclusively organic ingredients and do not claim that our breads or our company are certified organic.

Supporting our Local Community

At Flaveur breads, we have a strong desire to involve our surrounding community! We offer discounts to those at local sports clubs; Mount Joggers, Mount Yoga, Drill Fitness, Omanu Surf Lifesaving Club, to name a few. We are happy to sponsor local events and take our truck to local retirement villages to sell healthy nutritious bread to those who find it tricky to get to our bakery.
